For his initial experiments c.1886-87, Le Prince used a camera with 16 lenses. It was intended to shoot on two alternating rolls of sensitive material to enable long sequences to be taken, but the camera was first tested with a static glass plate, for taking just 16 images. The shutters on the lenses are opened in sequential order by means of a series of electrical contacts. The original camera, without the film back, is in the collection of the National Media Museum, Bradford, England. |
